Concerns raised over new bus station
Wednesday, 30th September 2009.
Haverhill members of Suffolk County Council will be meeting council officers at the new bus station soon to tell them what they think of it.
County and town councillor Anne Gower told members of Haverhill Town Council last night (Tuesday) that all the local county representatives were very unhappy about it.
"We will be meeting the officers to raise our individual concerns," she said.
"They tell us the shelters work okay in Beccles and somewhere else, but they don't work here.
"We have seen the struggles of disabled people and people with pushchairs.
"However, there is a process that has to be gone through, but all your representatives are very unhappy with it."
She said the police had not been given the chance to comment on the scheme at the planning stage and town council clerk Gordon Mussett said the police had told him they were concerned the shelters were not fully glazed.
