Children enjoy park projects
Thursday, 1st March 2001.
WORZEL GUMMIDGE was brought to life by youngsters having half-term fun in the East Town Park last week.
Artist Madeleine Anderson-Brimblecombe led a two day workshop on Monday and Tuesday to help youngsters aged seven and over create scarecrows based on the stories of Worzel Gummidge, using hessian and raffia.
The youngsters also transformed the park into an exotic tropical rain forest when they got the chance to create incredible moving structures of plants and creatures.
The events were part of a highly succesful programme organised by Haverhill Town Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council, which was sold out a week before the holiday.
Nick Keeble, town council leisure worker, plans to create more places for future events.
