Check out new scheme to help people save…
Thursday, 17th May 2001.
A SCHEME to encourage people to save has been launched at Haverhill's Co-op store.
The store has joined forces with a team of volunteers to provide a new home for the local Credit Union, inside the Jubilee Street shop.
Rainbow Saver Anglia Credit Union is a non-profit making bank run by local residents for their own benefit.
It offers a range of financial services, including loans and saving facilities.
The aim of the scheme is to help people who struggle to make ends meet, as well as those who have never had a bank account.
Adrian Stenton, chairman of the Rainbow Saver Anglia Credit Union, said: "We're delighted to have teamed up with the Co-op to move the Credit Union inside the local store, making it easier for people to do their daily shopping and save."
The Credit Union savings point will be staffed every Thursday from 10am to noon.
