Charity takes more steps towards toddler's treatment
Tuesday, 6th March 2012.
Around 40 people turned up on Saturday evening at the Taste of China Restaurant in Birdbrook, for a fund raising concert in aid of local charity Aiden's Footsteps.
Established last year by local parents Vicky Thompson and Gareth Thomas, the charity is aiming to raise £60,000 to pay for corrective surgery in the USA for their two-year-old son, Aiden.
The evening's entertainment was provided by local band Rinaldi Express, who performed a variety of new and old pop/rock music covers.
The restaurant provided a Chinese buffet midway through the evening, with the event rounded off with the presentation of a cheque for £500 from Haverhill Methodist Church.
A representative from the church, Jamie Hall, said: "We recently heard of Aiden's Footsteps and decided we wanted to do something, as a church, to help."
He went on to thank Rinaldi Express for organising the event, the restaurant for their hospitality and everyone for attending.
Mum Vicky, who received the cheque, was very appreciative and went on to provide an update of their current fund raising total of nearly £30,000 in less than 12 months.
