Chance to say what you think Haverhill should be like
Friday, 14th January 2011.
Public consultation will begin soon on a new Masterplan for Haverhill to cover all aspects of life for residents.
St Edmundsbury Borough Council recently approved its Local Development Framework core strategy, and is now moving on to masterplans for the two main towns.
Chief planning officer Chris Rand told members of Haverhill Area Working Party yesterday they wanted to get as many people as possible involved in the consultation, which is being called Haverhill Vision 2031.
The plan would cover the next 20 years and he stressed it would not just be a planning document, but would be a catalyst to get everything going in the town that people wanted to see by the year 2031.
“It’s not just land use,” he said. “We want to find out what businesses want and what retailers want, and it would include other things like transport, health, employment, leisure and so on.”
The launch event will be at Haverhill Arts Centre on February 1, with a series of follow-up events running through until April.
Mr Rand said it was particularly important to encourage young people to take part, as the outcome would be very important for their future lives.
