Chance for businesses to try speed dating
Thursday, 25th September 2014.
Two Haverhill business organisations have joined forces to host a Speed Networking event as part of the Business Festival 2014.
The annual festival is organised by St Edmundsbury Borough Council and comprises a wide range of business events that are run across West Suffolk from October 1-10.
Haverhill Chamber of Commerce and thebestof Haverhill will hold the meeting at Haverhill Arts Centre on Thursday, October 9, from 5.30pm until 9pm.
Speed Networking is an intensive form of networking that allows initial connections with a large number of people to be made quickly and effectively.
Both the Haverhill Chamber and thebestof Haverhill run regular networking events in the town and they are keen to promote the business benefits of networking.
Paul Donno, chairman of Haverhill Chamber and director of 1 Accounts Online said: “Networking is such a great way to make new contacts and to reinforce existing business relationships.
"When you consider how difficult it is to get appointments networking allows you to have conversations with people that you might struggle to get in front of otherwise.
"Speed Networking takes that concept one step further and allows you to have initial conversations with everyone in the room. It’s a fast moving session but a lot of fun.”
The ticket price is £14 excluding VAT for members of Haverhill Chamber and thebestof Haverhill and £18 excluding VAT for non-members and includes a light buffet supper.
Due to the nature of Speed Networking places are limited to 32 and tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.
Elaine Carr, owner of thebestof Haverhill, said: “The right venue is a really important element in the success of a Speed Networking event.
"A small room just does not work as it is far too noisy. We are very fortunate to have access to Haverhill Arts Centre as our venue - the main auditorium is so large that we can accommodate everyone comfortably and it isn’t too noisy.
"Our Master of Ceremonies is business coach John Porter, from Business Improvements. John is celebrating 30 years in his business and is an expert when it comes to time management so we are pretty confident that he will keep us all on track so that we get to meet everyone in the room in the time allocated.”
If you would like to attend the Speed Networking at Haverhill Arts Centre book tickets online via the Haverhill Chamber website www.suffolkchamber.co.uk/haverhill under the Events page.
