Champion golfers defend their shield

Haverhill Golf Club’s Anniversary Shield was played on Saturday, November 13, as a texas scramble, with teams of four.
The defending champions, Eamonn Bareham, David Roope, Andy Softley and Tim Daniels, teamed up once again and successfully retained the shield with a score of 58.7.
In second place were Roger Turner, Scott Turner, David Johnson and Harvey Bavester with a score of 59.6 and third were Mark Stanton, Kim Ward, Stuart King and Andy Fish with a score of 60.1.
On Sunday, November 14, the Asco Cup, the final major competition of the 2010 season, was contested.
Played as foursomes medal format, it was another successful day for Andy Softley and Tim Daniels, winning with 79-13-66.
In second place were Graham Ashcroft and Andy Craig with 80-12-68 and third were Kim Ward and Robert Rudge with 82-12-70 on countback.
The first of the Junior Winter Medals was played on Sunday, November 21. James Higham scored a very creditable 96-25-71 to win by just one shot from second place Liam Merritt with 82-10-72.
Harvey Bavester and Richard Boyles both shot the lowest gross score, however Harvey just had the edge on countback to finish in third place with 81-8-73.
Newton Green hosted the Winter Alliance on Sunday, November 21, in which 43 players, including four professionals, took part.
The 4BBB Stableford was won by Haverhill president Chris Briggs and Jim Walker, also of Haverhill, with 44 points.
Kevin Earp of Bury Driving Range won the Professional Prize with a score of 67. Haverhill professional Paul Wilby finished in third place with a score of 72.
