Chamber's charity film show raises £1,000
Thursday, 10th February 2011.
Haverhill Chamber of Commerce has presented St Nicholas Hospice Care with more than £1,000 raised from its charity film preview of Disney’s new 3D animated film Tangled, this week’s UK number one film.
Disney kindly agreed to allow Haverhill Chamber and Cineworld Haverhill to preview its new 3D film five days before it went on general release in the UK on Sunday, January 23, to raise money for the hospice.
Cineworld Haverhill kindly donated the screen for free and a pair of 3D glasses for every ticket holder.
Sue Warren from Haverhill-based PR consultancy Simply PR organised the film preview on behalf of the chamber.
A Haverhill Chamber of Commerce committee member, Sue said: “I am delighted that we can present the hospice with more than £1,000 towards the amazing work they do in Haverhill.
"Every year nurses from St Nicholas Hospice Care help people living with terminal illness in Haverhill by visiting them in their homes to provide care and support.
"I would like to say a huge thank you to Cineworld Haverhill, Disney and Printwise for their support but especially to the people of Haverhill who brought their families to see the film and donated such a large sum for the hospice.”
Haverhill printing firm Printwise donated the design and printing of the tickets and posters for the preview.
Abby Mayes, corporate fundraiser for St Nicholas Hospice Care, said: “I’d like to thank Haverhill Chamber of Commerce for organising the film preview and supporting our work. I’d also like to thank Cineworld Haverhill and Disney and those that came along to the preview which was a fantastic event.”
