Haverhill Chamber of Commerce held the CB9 Business Awards on 17th May at Chilford Hall. Over 250 business people and sponsors were attracted to the Gala Ball which was hailed as yet another great success.

The CB9 Business Awards launch event in July 2007 was sponsored by St Edmundsbury Borough Council. The Haverhill Business Awards were renamed the CB9 Business Awards in recognition and support of the town branding commissioned by St Edmundsbury Borough Council in 2006.

Headline sponsor for the CB9 Business Awards was Tesco, in the wake of the supermarket giant receiving planning permission for a town centre store in Haverhill.

Awards were made in 11 categories, with the Judges’ Award for Business of the Year being chosen from among the winners. The full results were as follows:

Retailer of the Year (sponsored by: M+M Leisure): Winner - Arevolution.

Environmental Awareness Award (sponsored by Grampian Foods): Winner - Herbert Retail Ltd.

Employer of the Year Award (sponsored by Sigma Genosys): Winner - Days Inn Hotel.

Best Use of Technology Award (sponsored by Genzyme Ltd): Winner - Essential Shops Ltd.

Haverhill’s Mansol Preforms Ltd were overall winner of the CB9 Awards 2008.

The CB9 Business Awards was the second business awards programme to be held in Haverhill. The inaugural Haverhill Business Awards were held in 2005, just 15 months after the Haverhill Chamber of Commerce was launched in February 2004. The scheme was developed to turn a spotlight on the town, enhance the name of Haverhill across the region and highlight Haverhill’s business excellence.
