Catalytic converter marking session proves a hit
Monday, 23rd May 2011.
The latest session of catalytic converter marking by Haverhill police in the town proved hugely successful, thanks to the new idea of holding it in the evening.
Previously police held a couple of initial sessions, one at the weekend and one during the week, and followed them up with another weekday one, all at Mitchells Motors in Hollands Road.
The last one failed to attract any motorists, so they decided to try an evening one, as being more convenient for people.
Last Monday from 5-8pm, also at Mitchells Motors, they were overwhelmed with vehicles, with owners queuing up throughout the three hours, and a total of 21 vehicles being marked.
The marking is aimed at detering catalytic converter thieves who have struck across Suffolk and several times in Haverhill in recent weeks.
