Castle Manor redevelopment plans launched
Monday, 14th July 2014.
The first stage towards the replacement of two schools in Haverhill is now underway.
St Edmundsbury Borough Council has today launched a consultation asking for people’s views on plans to redevelop on land at Castle Manor Academy.
The idea is to replace the outdated buildings one at the former Parkway Middle School, in Park Road, now part of the academy and the other the Castle Manor School site off Eastern Avenue.
The redevelopment may also include an element of new housing.
The areas of land off Eastern Avenue and Park Road have been allocated for the redevelopment and expansion of the educational premises in the Haverhill Vision 2031 Local Plan.
A concept statement for the site is now out for public consultation. That will then lead to a masterplan which will guide the academy when it submits its planning application.
The public consultation will run to August 11. There will also be a drop-in session at the Business and Training Centre at Castle Manor Academy on July 19 from 10am to 1pm.
The full concept statement can also be viewed online at http://www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk/news/press-releases/II14071101.cfm or at the council offices in Lower Downs Slade, Haverhill, and Western Way, Bury.
