Carly's Logo Is A Winner
By Jo Deeks on Thursday, 21st October 2004.
At Last - Haverhill in Bloom now has a logo.
A recent competition was run to find a new logo for 2005.
The successful competion attracted 79 entries which were displayed around town for two weeks.
Residents had the chance to vote for their favourite on the internet and by phone up until last Saturday.
With the votes now tallied up, Carly Blake's design has been named the winner.
Tim Radford, chair of Haverhill in Bloom, said "With so many great entries to choose from I am really pleased in a way that I did not have to dhoose the logo design personally, and that by having the telephone voting system, this logo is literally the choice of the town.
Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry and all those who supported the entries by voting for them.
And of course, congratulations to Carly for her winning logo submission.
We are looking forward to using this logo in 2005 during our first year of haverhill in Bloom, when we shall be running a variety of competitions such as best garden, best industrial frontage, best floral art, best school and best town centre premises."
Plans are also being drawn up for ideas such as a gardeners' market, open gardens and flower arranging.
An application has already been sent, inviting radio 4's Gardeners Question Time to the town.
The group will also be publishing information showing gardeners how to support the events, as well as posting details on www.haverhillinbloom.org.uk.
