By Martin Chapman on Friday, 8th December 2000.
THE trial of Paul Brooks, 19, of Arrendene Road was suddenly ended this week.
The judge ordered that Paul Brooks who denies the charge of causing the death of Brian Digby, 17, of Haverhill, by dangerous driving last November should stand a retrial in January.
The decision, by the Judge at Bury St Edmunds Crown Court was made after the jury were discharged because a defence witness was not qualified to provide expert evidence. The defendant was entitled to a fair representation, which could not be provided by the witness.
