Business people to get preview of council's latest planning ideas

Council planners have come up with their latest ideas for moving Haverhill forward over the next 20 years, and for businesses who want to find out about them, there is an ideal opportunity in February.
The bestofhaverhill will be holding its next business meeting on Thursday, February 16, at The Days Inn, Haverhill, from 10am to 11.30am and the theme of Wanting The Best For Haverhill continues with guest speaker Chris Rand, principal planning policy officer at St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
Chris returns to provide an update to the local business community on the Haverhill Masterplan - the Haverhill Vision 2031.
He will talk about how St Edmundsbury Borough Council has progressed with the project and provide details on this latest phase of consultation, which starts on the March 1.
The latest document is much more specific than earlier ones and there is a chance to see which priorities the planners have picked out from those put forward in last year's consultations.
The council is keen for local businesses to engage with the Haverhill Vision 2031 and Chris will explain the different ways that businesses can get involved.
Elaine Carr, owner of thebestofhaverhill, said: “St Edmundsbury launched the Haverhill Vision 2031 last February and we were very fortunate to have Chris talk to us last year about this important plan for Haverhill.
"It’s great that he is coming back to give an update on what has been happening. 2031 seems so far way but I think it is imperative that we as business owners play our part in shaping the future of the town.
"There is often criticism of local authorities for a lack of joined-up thinking. St Edmundsbury are doing all they can to ensure that this is not the case in Haverhill.
"I encourage businesses to join us on February 16 and play their part in shaping the Haverhill of the future.”
