Business joins with schools to improve reading

PUPILS in Haverhill will now get held with their reading skills by support from business’s as Suffolk Education Business Partnership and Business in the Community have joined forces.
Reading Partners is a literacy programme designed to help build pupil's reading confidence and to make reading together a fun activity.
Local companies are invited to release reading volunteers for an hour each week to work with pupils.
Genzyme Limited in Haverhill have released two members of staff – Kelly Higgins and Emma Newman - to develop the Reading Together scheme at Clements Primary School.
It is hoped that the scheme will be launched in other primary schools in Haverhill in the near future. If any organisation would like further information on the Reading Partners scheme or other initiatives of the Education Business Partnership please call Helen Scott-Davies, on 01284 352154.
