Bulb planting for the Millennium

HAVERHILL people have been preparing to brighten up their environment for the Millennium.
They have been taking part in a bulb-planting programme to bring a splash of colour to the town in readiness for next March.
Residents, police officers and children have been working alongside council officers to plant hundreds of bulbs at Parkside, the Ladygate Underpass and Linton Place, on the Chalkstone and Clements Estates.
At Parkside this week, children helped plant with, Charlotte Holgate, six, Bob Curry, of Parkside Residents Association, area housing officer John Veal, Larraine Reynolds, of Housing Services and park ranger Fran Hallinan.
