Britain's Got Talent star to switch on town's Christmas lights

Thursday, 6th November 2014.

Patsy May, the sensational blue star of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, will be turning on the Christmas lights in Haverhill this year.

You can get down to Market Square for 6.30pm on Friday, December 5, to see Patsy May turn on the display for the town, including new designs by Haverhill primary school children.

Patsy said: "It's great to be in this little town. Size doesn't matter, right? I've visited before. And deep down inside it feels like home.

“So, I'm pretty excited to be turning on the Christmas lights. I'm not sure if these people know - they should do - but I'm kind of a big deal.

"And most importantly, I LOVE Christmas! And lights! And hopefully I can celebrate in one of the cute little bars here. I have no idea what a Drabbet is but I think I'd like to try one."

Patsy May rose to fame when she performed Dream A Little Dream Of Me on Britain’s Got Talent, and in spite of her warning, made hosts Ant and Dec fall a little bit in love with her.

She was then voted through to the Live Semi-Finals. Since her forays in primetime TV Patsy has spent her time mingling with A-listers - and Phillip Schofield - making music videos, taking tea at The Ritz and, whenever she has a spare moment, perfecting her general fabulousness.

Nick Keeble, Arts and leisure manager for Haverhill Town Council, said: "We’re thrilled and honoured that Miss Patsy May has managed to squeeze us into her busy showbiz schedule. Her rider rivals Mariah Carey’s but she’s worth it!"

Friday, December 5, is also Late Night Shopping night and the Grand Fireworks Display. Late Night Shopping will be in the High Street and Queen Street from 5.30pm–7.45pm.

The free Fireworks Display will be on the Recreation Ground at 8pm. On Saturday, December 6, there will be free ice-skating on the market square.

The Christmas Lights, Late Night Shopping, Fireworks and Ice-skating are all part of Haverhill Town Council’s Family Christmas Celebrations.
