BP teaches pupils about the stockmarket
Wednesday, 30th June 2010.
BP managed to take time out from its current real-life challenges to bring its Trading Challenge Roadshow to Samuel Ward Arts and Technology College in Haverhill yesterday.
All of college's year nine pupils had the opportunity to participate in a two-hour session, during which they worked in a team to trade oil stocks in a rapidly changing climate.
The roles of chair, accountant, trader and market analyst had to be shared within the group, so everyone had a vital role to play in their company.
The roadshow was a hands-on experience, and pupils had the opportunity to develop their mathematical, business and enterprise skills, as well as learning about bear and bull markets, and the way a trading floor works.
Pupils said afterwards it had been great to make their own decisions and really fun to learn about trading in this way.
