Boy's GCSE work taken by burglars
By Jo Deeks on Thursday, 12th October 2000.
PAPERBOY Darryl Bastian is hoping someone may be able to help him find missing GCSE coursework which was taken during a burglary at his home.
Darryl, 15, of Elmhurst Close, Haverhill, is a pupil at Linton Village College and is due to sit nine GCSEs next June.
A large amount of mainly English and history coursework, as well as textbooks and equipment. was in his Nike bag
Intruders broke in through the back door of his home while the family was asleep upstairs early on Wednesday. About 30 CDs were also taken.
Darryl's mother, Karen Tann, believes the thieves may have been disturbed by the family getting up.
"We are desperately hoping he will be able to get it back. It is of no use to anyone else but irreplaceable to him.
"A lot of it is work about field trips that he has gone on which he would not be able to do again.
"His bag was absolutely packed with all new pens and stuff because he has only just gone back to school.
"He also lost his homework planner and a scientific calculator but it is the coursework he really wants to get back," Mrs Tann said.
A Suffolk police spokesman said the burglary had taken place between 1am and 8am and urged anyone who could help find the vital coursework to get in touch with them on (01284) 774100.
