Bowling alley open
Thursday, 2nd December 1999.
THE first customers have been enjoying Haverhill's long-awaited tenpin bowling alley.
An extension to Haverhill Snooker Club in Chalkstone Way was planned to allow eight tenpin bowling lanes to be built. Delstore, which runs the premises, has a similar operation in Newmarket.
Manager Hazel Pawley said the bowling side would operate in the same way as the snooker club, with members paying an annual subscription and non-members paying a £1 day fee at each visit.
Surveys in Haverhill over a number of years have revealed a bowling alley to be high on people's wish list, but previous plans have not gone ahead.
Snooker tables and bowling lanes can be booked on (01440) 707774.
