Borough council fun days begin with Children's Festival
Wednesday, 3rd August 2011.
A family fun day next week kicks off a month of Wednesday fun sessions during the school holidays in Haverhill being promoted by St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
A day of high quality free family fun is on offer at the third Haverhill Children’s Festival taking place on the Recreation Ground from 10am to 4pm on Wednesday, August 10.
The busy programme takes place in marquees, an arena and throughout the Recreation Ground.
Among the entertainers there are musicians, magicians, monsters and acrobats - or you can take part in workshops for African drumming, or street dancing, or cheer leading.
More hands-on fun comes with art and craft actvities, model making, ‘tattoos’ and graffiti. And to burn off any excess energy there is a bouncy castle, giant slide, sports with Abbeycroft Leisure and circus skills, to name a few.
Cllr Sara Mildmay-White, St Edmundsbury’s Borough Council's cabinet member for culture and sport, said: “The Haverhill Children’s Festival has built a great reputation for inspirational entertainment and the programme this year is the strongest yet.
"In fact, the fun continues with Wicked Wednesdays throughout the summer. We are looking forward to delighting families and welcoming them back for more.”
Wicked Wednesdays include:
Wednesday, August10, 11am to 4pm, Haverhill Children’s Festival at Recreation Ground. Registration required on the day.
Wednesday, August 17, 11am to 3pm, Picnic In The Park, East Town Park, Coupals Road. In partnership with Haverhill Town Council, there will be a day of entertainment and activities for the family. Bring a picnic and join in the fun. Free, no need to book.
