Borough council boss to speak at business event
Monday, 1st October 2012.
The senior officer at St Edmundsbury Borough Council will be talking to Haverhill business people at a networking event next week.
The bestofhaverhill holds its next business meeting on Thursday, October 18, at Days Inn, from 10am to 11.30am, and continues its theme of Wanting The Best For Haverhill with guest speaker Ian Gallin.
Mr Gallin was appointed joint chief executive of Forest Heath District Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council in April this year.
He replaced the chief executives from Forest Heath District Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council (Geoff Rivers) and has overall responsibility for reducing the money spent by both councils by adopting a more cohesive approach to the provision of services.
Mr Gallin will talk about the current review of the services provided and how, where possible, services are being redesigned to better suit the requirements of local people, for example the shared planning service.
The Vision 2031 project, which aims to create a community-led, shared vision for the next 20 years, will be a further topic for discussion.
Mr Gallin will provide an update on the initial consultation which took place in March/April this year, the progress made to date and the next steps in the process.
Elaine Carr, owner of thebestofhaverhill said: “We are delighted to welcome him to Haverhill as our guest speaker.
"The town is entering the next phase in its development and there are some huge issues on the horizon which need to be addressed in the medium and long-term plans for Haverhill. I am looking forward to him sharing his vision for the town.
"The delivery of services affects each and every one of us, as both residents and businesses, and I am sure that the local business community will be looking for assurances that service levels will not suffer as a result of budget cuts.
"I hope businesses will take the opportunity to join us for this event and share their views and concerns.”
If you would like to attend this free event call Elaine Carr on 01440 710 158 or email Haverhill@thebestof.co.uk by Tuesday, October 16.
The event is open to any local organisations - you do not have to be a member of the bestofhaverhill to attend.
