Big switch on for town's Christmas illuminations
Thursday, 2nd December 1999.
HAVERHILL was lit up in a blaze of festive colour as this year's Christmas display was officially opened.
With just four weeks to go until Christmas, the town was turned into a winter wonderland as Mayor Angela Millar started off the holiday fun, along with special guest Father Christmas.
This year everyone is being invited to take part in the town council's project, Winter in Haverhill.
As part of the festivities, all the shops will stay open late on December 10 for a night of Christmas cheer.
There will be street entertainment and a massive fireworks display.
