Bid to track old friends on the web
By Jo Deeks on Thursday, 24th June 1999.
A WEB site dedicated to Haverhill has prompted a woman in America to try to track down some of her old friends.
The Haverhill-UK site has attracted 5,500 visitors since it was set up by
Jason Fitzpatrick in March. One of those was Tina Stroh, 37, formerly Tina Cogan, from her home in Pittsburgh. USA.
Tina uses the Internet to keep in touch with friends and relatives around the world and discovered Haverhill-UK offered a vital link to her past.
She visited the on-line photo library of Haverhill and now has her Windows Wallpaper set up with pictures of the High Street.
Now she is hoping that anyone who remembers her will contact her via e-mail. In an e-mail to Mr. Fitzpatrick, Tina said she left Castle Manor Upper School in 1979 and moved to Germany before marrying a US serviceman and moving to the United States in 1981. She moved to Pittsburgh in 1991 and is working as a bank credit investigator.
Her memories of Haverhill include the fair on the Rec, where it always seemed to rain, apple orchards which are now part of the Chimswell estate, being one of the first students to attend Castle Hill Middle School and summers at Puddlebrook.
"I enjoy the web, use it for my college project, check the Haverhill-UK web site regularly and also the Cambridge Evening News to keep up on what’s happening in the local area.
She would especially like to hear from Carol Cowap, Julie Bassette, Julie Buckton, Tony Halpin and Debbie Manley.
She can be contacted directly by visiting the guest book on the Haverhill-UK site.
