Beware of callers after attempted distraction burglary
Tuesday, 27th July 2010.
An incident in Haverhill last week has underlined recent police warnings about potential distraction burglaries.
In Crowland Road, at around 10.45am on Thursday, a man called at the house of an elderly woman, saying he was working at a neighbouring property and needed access to her home to turn down the water pressure.
She refused him entry and he walked off, joining a second man in the street.
The first man is described as white, aged between 19 and 25, between 5ft 3in and 5ft 6in tall, of medium build with short light brown hair and stubble and was wearing a light grey sweatshirt with a picture on the front.
The second man is described as slightly taller and slimmer than the first man and was wearing a navy sweatshirt.
Calls in relation to this incident should be made to A/DS Lisa Hunt at West Suffolk CID on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
