Band and choir join for traditional concert
Sunday, 20th December 2009.
Haverhill's big Christmas musical event takes place this evening (Sunday) at the Old Independent Church, when Haverhill Silver Band and Haverhill Operatic Society join forces in Carols For All.
For more than 30 years the concert has signalled the start of Christmas for many local people, but this will be the first time for many years that the concert has had a snowy setting.
The band and the choir will be joined by the church's magnificent organ, played again this year by Nigel Brown, and traditionally the packed audience will help in raising the roof in the popular favourites.
The concert, which is conducted by Les Ager and Mark Ager, starts at 8pm, but the audience will begin arriving nearly an hour before that to make sure of a seat.
Tickets are £5 and are available on the door.
