Autumn show is a growing glory
Thursday, 11th November 1999.
SOME magnificent specimens of vegetables and flowers were on view at the annual Clare and District Horticultural Society Show on Saturday.
The show has been running for more than 50 years and attracts growers from quite a distance to take part.
Society president Dr Alan Stewart said he had been showing Chrysanthemums ever since he came to the town 50 years ago and had won between 300 and 400 prizes.
Although he still managed to win five prizes this year, Dr Stewart said he believed entries were slightly down as it had not been a good growing season and several people did not take part this year.
