Appeal for a responsible Easter holiday in town
Thursday, 1st April 2010.
Police in Haverhill have appealed to have a good time over the Easter holidays but to behave responsibly.
A similar appeal over Christmas was well heeded by local people and resulted in there being no incidents for police to deal with at all on Christmas Eve, and very few on New Year's Eve.
Sgt Sarah Bartley of Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood Team said their particular focus on Friday and Saturday evening would be anti-social behaviour.
"We will have extra staff on, particularly on Saturday, as will the Cambridge and Essex forces and we will be ready to deal with events such as raves," she said.
"But the main message is have a good time but behave. We have youngsters breaking up from school today (Thursday) and maybe going out for a drink, and we just ask them to behave responsibly and with consideration for other people."
