Appeal following burglary in Haverhill

Friday, 22nd April 2016.

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a burglary in Ruffles Road, Haverhill on Tuesday 19 April at around 4.35pm.

A suspect entered the rear of the property but was disturbed by the victim , alerted to his presence by the family dog barking. The offender then ran out of the property into the garden, pursued by the victim and the dog.

As the suspect tried to leave the scene he assaulted the victim. The dog then bit the suspect who jumped over a fence and fled the scene. It is believed that he ran off along the alleyway between Rosefinch Close and Kestrel Road.

The victim sustained injuries to his finger. The dog was unhurt. Nothing is believed to have been stolen.

The suspect is described as being a white man, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, of scruffy appearance, slimly built, with a spotty complexion who was wearing a blue hooded top, black skinny jeans, and white trainers.
