Appeal after driver approaches 10-year-old girl
Tuesday, 18th March 2014.
Police in Haverhill are appealing for witnesses after a 10-year-old girl was approached by a man in a car at the weekend.
The incident happened at around 1pm Saturday in Greenfields Way.
The victim was walking along the footpath towards Cleves Road when a silver car pulled up beside her and the driver asked if she would like to get in.
The girl ignored the driver, who on seeing a dog-walker approaching on the opposite side of the road quickly turned the car around and drove off towards Duddery Road.
In turning his car around, the suspect caused other traffic to wait while completing the manoeuvre and police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this vehicle.
The vehicle is described as a silver Vauxhall people carrier, or similar model. The man is described as white, aged between 40 and 50, of a large build and with a bald head. He was wearing a green camouflage t-shirt and smoking a rolled-up cigarette.
Any witnesses or anyone with information about this incident, is asked to contact PC Guy Ainsworth at Haverhill Police Station on 101, quoting reference HH/14/496, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
