Wednesday, 21st October 2009.
The Suffolk Positive Futures Team which works with young people who are at risk of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour has won a National Justice Award for commitment to engaging communities.
It was the team’s work with young people in the Stowmarket area that saw them beat off stiff competition from almost 900 nominations across England and Wales.
Paula Abrahams, chair of Suffolk Criminal Justice Board said: “The Justice Awards are our way of saying thank you to those individuals and teams in the criminal justice system who go the extra mile to make life better for individuals and our communities and Suffolk Positive Futures is a prime example of this.”
Dealing with anti-social behaviour is one of the main issues facing police in Suffolk, and was voted the top priority at a recent public meeting in Haverhill.
