Another Green Flag Success for Haverhill's East Town Park
Friday, 24th July 2009.
Haverhill's East Town Park has won a prestigious Green Flag Award.
The Green Flag Award is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales and recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country. The award is a sign to visitors that a park has met strict criteria which, among other things, require it to be a clean, safe and welcoming place to spend time. The award has to be applied for annually.
Bury St Edmunds' Nowton Park also won the Green Flag Award.
Cllr Lynsey Alexander, St Edmundsbury Borough Council Cabinet member for Culture and Sport said,
“We treasure our parks and we are committed to ensuring they continue to entertain and delight visitors. Visiting our public parks is a wonderful way for families to enjoy themselves without spending money. This achievement is an accolade to the Parks Service, the many volunteers and all the visitors who help ensure the parks remain clean, green and welcoming places.”
