Annual meeting for residents of town's biggest housing provider
Tuesday, 27th September 2011.
Tenants and leaseholders of Haverhill's biggest housing provider, Havebury Housing Partnership, are invited to the annual meeting of its tenants' forum next month.
The constitution and leadership of the tenants’ forum will be the focus of the group’s annual general meeting.
Residents of the partnership’s 6,000 homes are invited to attend the event, to be held at Havebury’s offices in Western Way, Bury St Edmunds on Thursday, October 27.
Havebury’s resident involvement advisor Ellie Darling explained that the meeting would include the announcement of the new chairman and vice-chairman, as well as outline any changes to the forum’s constitution.
Two residents’ awards will also be presented – the Good Neighbour Award and Contribution To The Community Award.
Ellie said: “The Tenants’ Forum is a vital part of Havebury Housing. Members represent the views and interests of tenants and leaseholders on all matters relating to housing services, like maintenance, community investment and management.
"They ensure our tenants’ feedback is considered and so hold Havebury to account in all our operating procedures.”
There are presently 20 members of the tenants’ forum, all of whom are either tenants or leaseholders and were nominated by others in the community. The group meets six times a year and works closely with Havebury’s Stronger Communities Team.
Havebury chief executive Karen Mayhew said: “Havebury actively encourages resident involvement and feedback. As well as the tenants’ forum, there are many other ways for people to share their thoughts about what we do.
"These include the sounding board, where we periodically ask for opinions through questionnaires, telephone calls or home visits.
“Our neighbourhood investment and performance and scrutiny panels also include tenant representatives who ensure that our community grants are spent wisely and that we are providing all our services efficiently and transparently.”
If you would like to attend the Tenants’ Forum annual meeting, which takes place from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, please contact Ellie Darling on 01284 722033 to book your place.
