Ann’s cash boost just champion for project
Thursday, 11th April 2002.
A Haverhill woman recognised as a Community Champion is giving a £900 boost to a lap-top project.
Ann Thomas, who is the chairman of the Haverhill Association of Voluntary Organisations, received her award from the Community and Voluntary Forum for East Anglia (COVER).
It means she gets a cash award to give to a chosen community project and Ann has selected the lap-top project started by HAVO more than a year ago.
It offers use of a lap-top computer and training to housebound, elderly or disabled people within the community.
So far the project has three lap-tops and a lap-top projector and the funding will allow it to be developed to reach even more people within the community.
“I am really, really pleased. We started the project with a £250 grant and it has just gone from strength to strength and attracted a total of £7,000 in funding,” Ann said
.
Anyone interested should ring HAVO on (01440) 714641.
