Animal visits top the bill for youngsters this summer

The very popular Reptile House and Fur and Feathers experiences will be back for the summer holidays in a programme which combines parties, animals and water fights for Haverhill youngsters.
The summer holiday programme at Haverhill Leisure Centre is the most extensive to date and keeps all ages in mind.
For the under eights there will be craft sessions, trampolining, teddy bears picnics, dance mats, a beach party, treasure hunts, family quizzes, karaoke sessions and much more.
For eight to 12-year-olds the School’s Out holiday camps will be running activities including athletics, cycling, swimming, dodgeball, football and more. Children can take part in the camps for a morning or afternoon, a whole day or even the whole week.
The Reptile House and Fur and Feathers experiences will be back which gives youngsters a chance to get up close to animals including snakes, meerkats, and parrots.
There’s also a number of free Wednesday events for the whole family and youngsters of all ages delivered by Abbeycroft Leisure and St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
A Children’s Festival takes place on August 10 from 10am to 4pm on the Recreation Ground and will include a day of activities, workshops and displays. There will also be a family picnic at East Town Park on August 17 from 11am to 3pm.
The year also sees the return of Kid City’s Got Talent, Abbeycroft’s second talent contest of the year for five to 12-year-olds. Auditions take place at Kid City from 2pm to 3.30pm on August 3, August 9, and August 24. The final is at Kid City’s Hawaiian Beach Party on September 2 from 3pm to 6pm. Entry £3.
To end the summer holidays, grab your water pistols, and super soakers, for the Ultimate Water Fight at Haverhill Leisure Centre for five to 14-year-olds on Thursday, September 1, from 2pm to 4pm. Entry £2.
Under 8s activities are individually priced. Holiday camps cost £7.50 for a morning or afternoon session, additional children £6 each. For the whole day it costs £14 per child, £11.20 each for additional children and £62.50 for the week, with additional children at £50 per child.
