All set for golf club's big charity day

Haverhill Golf Club and Haverhill and District Rotary Club, will be holding this year’s Charity Golf Classic on Saturday, September 8.
The two main beneficiaries will be the East Anglian Air Ambulance and St Nicholas Hospice.
To date the annual golf day has raised over £130,000 and this would not be possible without the generous support from local people and businesses.
Special thanks go to the main event sponsors, Saffron Insurance, The Willow Business Centre and Red Side Up. Havebury Housing Partnership kindly donated £100 and other local businesses have donated prizes for the raffle and auction.
This year’s raffle prizes include an iPad, donated by Haverhill Golf Club's past president, Chris Briggs, a Kindle donated by club manager Karen Wilby, a reflexology voucher donated by HGC Member Anna Fairhead and Argos vouchers.
The auction items include a glider flight, two premier tickets to any meeting for 2013 Newmarket Races, a DAB digital radio signed by Ian Wright and nine four-ball green fee vouchers at various golf clubs in the East Anglian region.
It will be a fun day for all the golfers, as the format has changed this year to a 1pm shotgun start, so all the teams will be playing on the golf course at the same time.
As well as main team prizes, there will be nearest the pin prizes on all short holes, and a ‘double your money’ opportunity if you hit the green on the 16th with your tee shot. The golf competition will be followed by a two-course meal for the competitors with prize-giving and auction afterwards.
Those participating in the golf competition are invited to bring along guests to the evening entertainment (free admission) which starts at 8pm with El Rico’s magic show. The evening will conclude with live music from All Of A Sudden playing cover versions from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
