'Celebrities' appear at Place Farm for Sport Relief
Wednesday, 26th March 2014.
Pupils from Place Farm Primary Academy experienced the celebrity lifestyle on Friday, March 21.
The children came to school dressed as their favourite sporting hero complete with wacky hair, all in aid of raising money for Sport Relief.
In this way even David Beckham and Bradley Wiggins turned up for the special occasion!
Every year group (children and staff included) took part in the event, which saw a selection of footballers, runners, racing drivers and other sporting celebrities, completing their ‘Run a Mile’.
Pupils and staff enjoyed the opportunity to support this worthwhile cause and were proud to be able to help others from our local community and beyond.
Sarah Jarvis, foundation stage teacher, organised the event and said afterwards: “It was wonderful to see staff and pupils come together to ‘get active’ for Sport Relief.
"Everyone had made a superb effort with their costumes, and all gave 100 per cent to the ‘Run a Mile’. Overall we raised £225 for Sport Relief! Well done, Place Farm!"
Madeleine Vigar, executive principal of the Castle Partnership Academy Trust which oversees both Place Farm and Castle Manor, was impressed with the efforts of the schools.
“It is wonderful to see how our schools can come together and support their communities,” she said.
